MIXED VEG BARLEY SOUP FOR BREASTFEEDING MOMS


BENEFITS

HOW TO PREPARE


  • Wash and soak 2 tbsp barley overnight.

  • Heat 2 tsp oil in a pressure cooker

  • Add 1 medium size onions (chopped), 2 tbsp minced garlic. Saute until onions turn transparent.

  • Add 2 tbsp washed masoor (red lentil) dal, soaked barley and stir

  • Add 2 tbsp each of chopped carrots and mushroom (or any veg of your choice)

  • Add salt and 3-3 1/2 cups of water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.

  • Once the pressure releases, open the cooker and mash the contents slightly

  • Add 1 tbsp finely chopped tomatoes, 2 tsp coriander leaves to garnish

  • Sprinkle a bit of pepper for some taste

  • Serve 1 bowl of soup with 1 toasted whole wheat bread as an evening snack.
