TOOTH DECAY IN BABIES
Baby teeth are much prone to get affected by cavities than the permanent teeth. Hence it becomes necessary to be extra careful towards your baby's teeth. Read on to find out a few tips.

- The acid released by bacteria destroying the tooth enamel
- It is also called 'dental caries' or 'cavities'
- Causes pain and discomfort in the affected tooth
- May cause infection
WHY DOES IT HAPPEN?
- Poor oral hygiene
- A low saliva flow in the mouth
- Drinking milk from the bottle immediately before going to sleep
HOW TO AVOID?
- Practice good oral hygiene
- Do not let your child sleep with a bottle in her mouth
- Discipline her to rinse the mouth with water after eating
- Encourage nutritious food like fruits, vegetables, and home-cooked food
HOW TO AVOID?
- Make sure that you brush your child's teeth twice a day once in the morning and once in the night
- Brush your child's teeth with fluoride content toothpaste (check the fluoride content on the packaging, it should be 1000ppm)
